Koprulu Canyon National Park
Koprulu Kanyon National Park lies in the Manavgat district of the Antalya province, 49km northeast of the city of Antalya itself. Koprulu Kanyon National Park is thickly covered with cypress, pine, and cedar trees. What’s more, the Mediterranean cypress forest (400 hectares wide) is the most significant flora characteristic in the park. Due to hunting activities the number of species of animals has decreased, and now the most significant animal life includes bears, deer, foxes, mountain goats, rabbits, wolves, and badgers. Plenty of trout swims in various branches of the River Kopru that forms a 100 m wide and 14 km long valley between the villages of Bolasan and Beskonak. This is one of the longest canyons of Turkey. Also, the River Kopru is an ideal area for watersports, such as rafting. In addition to all these natural beauties, the ruins of the Roman city of Selge lie just 12km away. What has remained of the Roman era are an agora, theatre, temples of Zeus and Artemis, and cisterns.
